Even though I could have saved a bit of dough by finding wood instead of buying it, I still saved on making the stand instead of buying one. It cost me about $25 bucks, and I plan on using the log slices as platters in the future. This came together so quickly and fit perfectly with the theme of this shower. The logs gave plenty of room as well: two dozen cupcakes fit easily.
If there is such a thing as a “manly” cupcake stand, this has to come close. We hosted a woodsy themed baby shower for our friends this past weekend. I’ll have a full post with lots of pics soon, but until then here’s my favorite DIY from the day.
I think the pictures do most of the talking here…So simple, right? While I wish I could tell you that I mustered up my inner Paul Bunyan and sawed these wood slices from a tree, I actually bought them at Michael’s for $4.99-$9.99 a piece. The little terra cotta pots were $1, and I spray painted them white. I was worried about stability and considered gluing them down, but they ended up being fine without the glue.
OK, so there’s a little peak into the day…More details coming later this week!
